Premier League: Manchester United are the most searched English club according to Google Trends

Google collated data on searches for Premier League clubs’ names in every accessible country in the world, between 08/08/2015 and 28/08/2015, and found that Manchester United FC are the most searched for club in the vast majority of global territories.

There were only 14 countries in Europe where "Manchester United" was not the most popular Premier League club in search terms. In these countries, broadly, it was "Arsenal" that was most searched for. In the United Kingdom and Ireland, Manchester United are first.

• The Americas also belong to the Old Trafford club, with the United States, Canada and Brazil putting Manchester United top of the search list.
• Sub-Saharan Africa, from Kenya in the east through Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho and South Africa, also put United first.
  • Further north in Africa Chelsea were by far the most dominant club, although Arsenal were the most searched for in a string of countries from Chad to Somalia.
