Attendance: Premier League and Bundesliga top 13 million total fans, but NFL and MLB lead all sports

The Premier League (13.75 million) and the Bundesliga (13.33 million) both topped 13 million total spectators in terms of stadium attendance during the 2014-15 season, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 04/09/2015. With 380 total games played, the Premier League averaged 36,176 fans per match in 2014-15 (-1.4% compared to 2013-14), while, with 306 total games played, the Bundesliga averaged 43,539 fans per game (stable compared to 2013-14).

Overall, among the top sports leagues around the world, the NFL recorded the highest average spectators per game for the 2014-15 season, with 68,776 fans per game over 256 total regular season games played (The 2015-16 NFL season begins on Thursday 10/09/2015). For total attendance per season, MLB dominates the ranking, with 73,739,622 totals fans over 2,421 games played in 2014 (there are 2,430 possible games played per MLB season, however, the 2014 regular season included nine single-admission double-header games).
