Ligue 1: a record €404m in transfer revenue generated during the 2015 summer transfer window

The 20 clubs in Ligue 1 spent a total of €307m during the 2015 summer transfer window (from 09/06 to 31/08/2015), according to data from the specialised website Transfermarkt.de on 04/09/2015. This sum is 129% greater than the €134m spent by clubs in the French first division during the 2014 summer window, which was the lowest amount spent by Ligue 1 since the summer of 2003 (€107m).

The €307m spent by Ligue 1 is the league's second highest expenditure on transfers in a summer market, after 2013 (€379m). This increase, compared to the 2014 summer window, reflects the increase in spending by Paris Saint-Germain FC (€116m in 2015, compared to €49.5m in the summer of 2014, a 134% increase) and AS Monaco (€84.3m in 2015, against €24m in 2014, a 350% increase). Both these two clubs combined constituted 65.3% of the total Ligue 1 transfer spending in summer 2015 (37.8% for PSG and 27.5% for Monaco).
