Bundesliga: record expenditure (€410m) and revenue (€477m) in the 2015 summer transfer window

The 18 clubs of the Bundesliga spent a record €410.3m during the 2015 summer transfer market (from 01/07 to 31/08/2015), or 38% more than during the 2014 summer (€297.2m), according to data from the specialised website Transfermarkt.de on 09/09/2015. 2015 is the fourth consecutive summer transfer window in which the Bundesliga has surpassed the transfer spending record of the previous year.

With €476.7m in transfer revenue, the clubs of the German top division set a new record during a summer transfer window. This amount is 2.4 times higher than in summer 2014 (€198.2m). and 2.3 times higher than the previous record set in the summer of 2013 (€207m).

The transfer revenue of the Bundesliga was notably boosted by the transfer of the Belgian international Kevin De Bruyne (VfL Wolfsburg to Manchester City FC, Premier League) and the Brazilian international Roberto Firmino (TSG 1899 Hoffenheim to Liverpool FC, Premier League) for €74 and €41m respectively, or 24% of the total revenue of the German first division.
