ExclusiveFIFA: Frédéric Thiriez, president of the EPFL, announces his support for Michel Platini

Frédéric Thiriez, the president of the EPFL and the head of the French LFP, has announced his support for Michel Platini, UEFA president and candidate for the presidency of FIFA, News Tank Football discovered on 10/09/2015.

"We support you because you are a great leader and a man of heart," said Frédéric Thiriez to Michel Platini, during a meeting of the UEFA Strategic Committee in Nyon (SUI) on 09/09/2015.

Michel Platini, UEFA president since 2007, announced on 29/07/2015 that he would stand for the FIFA presidency. Joseph Blatter, re-elected for a fifth term on 29/05/2015, announced on 02/06/2015 that he "would lay down my mandate" at an extraordinary FIFA Congress to elect his successor. This election will take place at an extraordinary Congress in Zurich (SUI) on 26/02/2016. The deadline for submission of candidate applications is 26/10/2015, four months before the election.
