United Kingdom: BBC acquires 2015-2017 broadcast rights to the NFL, who season began on 10/09/2015

The British public broadcaster BBC acquired the broadcasting rights, in the UK, to the NFL for the 2015-2017 cycle, on 09/09/2015. The 2015-16 NFL season began on 09/10/2015 with the opening match between the 2014-15 champions New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers (New England won 28-21).

The rights acquired by the BBC include the 50th edition of the Super Bowl (for television, radio and internet) and a programme for summaries of all matches broadcast on BBC Two and online from November 2015. The three games of the 2015-16 NFL regular season played in London at Wembley Stadium (see below) will be broadcast live on BBC Two, or on an additional channel. Highlights of the best action from the US league of American football will also be available throughout the season on the website and the mobile app BBC Sport.
