CONMEBOL: British firm EY charged with evaluating and restructuring the South American confederation

The Executive Committee of CONMEBOL has approved a programme to evaluate and restructure the organisational model of the South American confederation, on 14/09/2015. "This programme consists of a comprehensive review of the management model and the organisational structure, in which any necessary reforms will be implemented in order to meet compliance and enforcement of established recommendations," said CONMEBOL.

Three current and former CONMEBOL officials are among the seven international football officials who were arrested and detained in Zurich (SUI), on 27/05/2015, the day before the opening of the FIFA Congress (on 28 and 29/05/2015), during which Joseph Blatter was re-elected for four years as president of the international federation. Indicted by the federal court in Brooklyn (New York, USA), they are accused of "racketeering, financial fraud, money laundering and other offenses in business fraud over the last 24 years, which aimed to enrich themselves through corruption in international football,"
