England - Fiji (35-11), the opening match of the 2015 Rugby World Cup, attracted 7.56 million viewers on average for the British private free-TV broadcaster ITV, on Friday, 18/09/2015 (21:00 CET).

The match, from the kick-off to final whistle, drew 8.7 million viewers on average and recorded a peak audience of 9.26 million viewers.

The average audience of the entire program (7.56 million viewers) represents a 35.3% audience share and meant that ITV, the exclusive broadcaster of the eighth Rugby World Cup in the UK, achieved the best performance of the day on the British television market and the best audience for a sporting event broadcast in the UK in 2015.

  • In France, the match between England - Fiji attracted an average of 5.5 million viewers to the private free-TV channel TF1, representing a 24.1% audience share.
    • TF1 achieved the best performance of the day on the French television market.

TF1 sold the broadcasting rights to 27 of the 48 World Cup matches to Canal+, on 19/01/2015
