The executive committee of UEFA has approved the donation of €2m to the UEFA Foundation for Children to help migrant children who have recently arrived in Europe, announced the body at the end of the meeting held in St. Julians (MLT) on 17 and 18/09/2015.

"We hope these funds will be able to make a valuable contribution to initiatives aimed at helping the living conditions of child migrants in Europe and beyond," said Michel Platini, UEFA President, on 18/09/2015.

"Europe is facing a humanitarian crisis and we believe football should help. This aid will be allocated to projects targeting children and football. We hope that with this small gesture, we can help some children and that football can give them a little hope," said Gianni Infantino (SUI), general secretary of UEFA, on 18/09/2015.

  • The UEFA Foundation, created on 27/04/2015, is also supporting a project in the Za'atari refugee camp in Jordan, to develop programmes around sports, training coaches and organising tournaments for girls and boys from the camp.
