LFP: Terraces of the Stade Vélodrome closed as an interim measure, final decision due on 15/10/2015

The Ligue de Football Professionel (LFP, France) disciplinary commission has decided to close the north and south ends of the Stade Vélodrome pending a formal hearing.The decision followed incidents that erupted during the match between Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais (1-1, the sixth matchday of Ligue 1, on 20/09/2015) the LFP announced on 24/09/2015. The closure will be enforced from the Olympique de Marseille-Angers SCO match at the Stade Vélodrome on Sunday 27/09/2015 (2pm kick-off).

Play was stopped in the Marseille-Lyon match for more than 20 minutes due to objects repeatedly being thrown on the pitch on 20/09/2015. There were also lively verbal exchanges between the presidents of OM and OL at the end of the game. Vincent Labrune (Marseille president), was notably described as a “puppet” by his counterpart Jean-Michel Aulas (Lyon president).
