Budapest is going to have a stadium meeting "the highest standards required by UEFA," the Hungarian government announced on 23/04/2013.

The construction of the new 65,000 seater stadium, with an estimated cost of €230-300 million, will begin in 2014, with delivery expected in 2017.

The future arena, called "The National Olympic Centre" should allow Budapest and Hungary to apply for hosting several matches of the Euro 2020 competition, which will take place in 13 different European cities.

"The National Olympic Centre" will be built in place of the current Ferenc Puskas stadium, the former "People's Stadium", built in 1953.

The project also includes athletic facilities, an Olympic swimming pool and a velodrome for an additional €10-13 million.

A call to tender will be launched soon.
