Approximately €95 million (£80 million), is the amount available to Manchester City for their recruitment for the 2013/14 season, according to Manchester Evening News, 25/04/2013.

If the budget is fully used, expenditure on recruitment represents an increase of 47% compared to the previous season. In 2012/13, the club has spent about €64.5 million (£54.5 million pounds).

Between 2007/08 and 2012/13, Manchester City have twice been the highest spending club in the transfer market among the five major European leagues (Germany, England, Spain, France and Italy). Real Madrid (2009-10 and 2010-11) and Paris-Saint-Germain (2011-12 and 2012-13) have also twice held this title.

Arsenal meanwhile have a transfer budget of about €71 million (£60 million pounds), according to a club announcement on 29/04/2013.
