CONMEBOL: Uruguayan Eugenio Figueredo succeeds outgoing president Nicolas Leoz

Uruguayan Eugenio Figueredo, 81, Vice President of CONMEBOL (South American Football Confederation) has been made President of the organisation after Paraguayan Nicolas Leoz tendered his resignation earlier that day, the 23/04/2013.

The South American organisation sent a statement to FIFA to inform them of the appointment before it was officially endorsed by CONMEBOL's Executive Committee were due to meet on 30/04/2013 at their headquarters in Asuncion (Paraguay).

Eugenio Figueredo, who was President of the AUF (Uruguayan Football Association) from 1997 to 2006, will remain head of the CONMEBOL until May 2015, normal length term of office.
