FIFA: Issa Hayatou (CAM), acting president, suggests a change in the electoral calendar

"If the reform commission decides that the timetable is too short to conduct the elections, it could make proposals to the Executive Committee of FIFA to change the electoral calendar," said Issa Hayatou (69 years old), now the acting president of FIFA, to RFI (Radio France International) on 08/10/2015.

The election to choose a successor to Joseph Blatter for the presidency of FIFA is scheduled to take place on 26/02/2016. The deadline for applications has been set by FIFA for four months before the election, on Monday 26/10/2015.

"In these exceptional circumstances, today Thursday 08/10/2015, I assume the role of the president of FIFA in accordance with Articles 30, para. 6 and 32 para. 6 of the FIFA Statutes. I'll take this function only on an interim basis. The extraordinary Congress will choose a new president on 26/02/2016, and I myself will not be candidate in this election," said Issa Hayatou, in a statement following his appointment as the acting president of FIFA on 08/10/2015.
