FIFA: extraordinary congress of the Executive Committee to take place in Zurich (SUI) on 20/10/2015

"FIFA can confirm that the Executive Committee will meet in Zurich (SUI) on Tuesday 20/10/2015, for an extraordinary congress," announced the international federation on 09/10/2015.

"The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) president and FIFA vice-president Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa (BHR) has today written to the acting FIFA president Issa Hayatou (CMR) and his fellow Executive Committee members to request an urgent meeting of the governing body's Executive Committee," said the AFC on 09/10/2015.

Joseph Blatter (SUI), FIFA president, and Michel Platini (FRA), UEFA president and a FIFA vice-president, were suspended for a period of 90 days from any football related activity at the national and international level by the adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee on 08/10/2015. The same day, Issa Hayatou, as "the longest serving available vice-president", was appointed the interim president of FIFA.
