FIFA Ethics Committee deems invalid the suspension appeal by the lawyers of Michel Platini

"The argument put forward by Michel Platini’s lawyers that their client had not had the possibility to defend himself before the adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee before his suspension is not valid," said Marc Tenbücken, the spokesman for the adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee on 12/10/2015.

Michel Platini, the UEFA president, was suspended for a period of 90 days from any activity in football at national and international level, on 08/10/2015. Michel Platini immediately appealed this decision to the FIFA Appeal Committee, in which his lawyers said the UEFA president had no opportunity to defend himself before the adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Committee.

"After the investigatory chamber of the FIFA ethics committee had heard him for more than five hours on October 1, 2015 -- with the hearing documented on more than 50 pages - the chairman of the adjudicatory chamber, Hans-Joachim Eckert, did not see a need for a second hearing with Mr Platini," said Marc Tenbücken in a statement sent to the AFP (Agence France Presse).
