"I'm fine, I'm a fighter. I feel good, they can destroy me, but they cannot destroy my life's work," said Joseph Blatter in the Swiss weekly Schweizer am Sonntag on 11/10/2015."

This follows, in particular, a Swiss investigation into a payment of 2 million Swiss francs (about €1.54m at the time) to Michel Platini in February 2011, ostensibly to for work completed by Platini for FIFA during the 1999-2002 period, and the signing of a "contract unfavorable to FIFA" with the Caribbean Football Union (in particular to Jack Warner, the then president of the CFU).

The FIFA Executive Committee will hold an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday 20/10/2015, chaired by Issa Hayatou, now the acting president of FIFA.
