"The Federal Office of Justice (FOJ) has approved the extradition of Costas Takkas to the USA. The British citizen has 30 days in which to appeal to the Swiss Federal Criminal Court against the FOJ's ruling," announced the Swiss FOJ on 09/10/2015.

Costas Takkas (Cayman Islands resident and British citizen), the former secretary general of the Cayman Islands Football Federation and advisor to the president of CONCACAF, was one of seven leaders in football arrested in Zurich (SUI) on 27/05/2015 with a view toward extradition to the United States. "Costas Takkas is accused of demanding and accepting bribes of millions of dollars for the president of CONCACAF in connection with the sale of marketing rights for World Cup 2018 and 2022 qualifiers to a US sports marketing company," said the FOJ.

Costas Takkas is the fourth of the six FIFA officials arrested on 27/05/2015 who refused to be extradited (Jeffrey Webb, the former president of CONCACAF, had accepted his extradition and Julio Rocha is also pending extradition to Nicaragua, as well as the US), by Switzerland to the United States.
