"Delaying the scheduled election would only postpone the change needed and create further instability. It would tell the world that lessons haven’t been learned, that the same backroom deals that discredited FIFA in the first place will continue," said Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein (JOR), FIFA presidential candidate, on 14/10/2015.

Joseph Blatter, the FIFA president, was suspended for a period of 90 days from any activity in football at the national and international levels by the adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committe, on 08/10/2015. The election to choose a successor to Joseph Blatter for the presidency of FIFA is scheduled to take place on 26/02/2016. The deadline for applications has been set by FIFA for four months before the election, on Monday 26/10/2015.
