FIFA: Ali Bin Al Hussein formally submits his application with the required letters of support

"This morning (15/10/2015), Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein formally filed his candidacy for the presidency of FIFA, in accordance with electoral rules and FIFA statutes," announced the team of the Jordanian Ali Bin Al Hussein on 15/10/2015.

Ali Bin Al Hussein announced his decision to once again stand for the FIFA presidency during a press conference held in Amman (JOR) on 09/09/2015. The Jordanian, who turns 40 on 23/12/2015, the half-brother of King Abdullah II of Jordan and a former vice-president of FIFA, was the sole opponent of Joseph Blatter (SUI) in the previous election on 29/05/2015. Joseph Blatter was re-elected for a fifth term (the 2015-2019 period), after obtaining 133 votes out of 206 in the first round of voting (64.5%, less than the two-thirds majority required for victory in the first voting round), at which point Prince Ali conceded before the second round (where a simple majority suffices). Joseph Blatter announced that he would "lay down my mandate", four days later on 02/06/2015.
