Copa90: Bigballs Media, owner of the Copa network, signs $10.6m funding deal with Liberty Global

Bigballs Media, the fan-focused digital football network, signed a $10.6 million (€9.3m) investment deal with Liberty Global and e.ventures on 12/10/2015. The UK-based parent company of the digital channels Copa90 and KICKTV, Bigballs' "Copa network" now reaches more than 10 million young fans across all its platforms.

Liberty Global Group, a media conglomerate with annual revenues of $18.2 billion, already has a number of UK-media interests including the cable company Virgin Media and the terrestrial network ITV. e.ventures, a global venture-capital firm with roots in Silicon Valley (California, USA), invests in digital businesses in sectors including media, music, software, gaming, e-commerce and travel.

Bigballs Media's new cash injection will be used to extend its content offering, with broadened coverage of major football tournaments and increased coverage of domestic leagues. Underpinning it will be a major recruitment phase drawing in a global network of presenters and film-makers.
