"The FIFA Executive Committee reconfirms 26/02/2016 as the date of the extraordinary elective congress (for the FIFA presidency) in Zurich (SUI)," said the international body via its Twitter account, at the conclusion of the extraordinary Executive Committee meeting on 20/10/2015.

Several international media operators had speculated about a possible postponement of the vote to elect the successor of Joseph Blatter, particularly since both he and Michel Platini, UEFA president and FIFA presidential candidate, were suspended from all football activity for 90 days, on 08/10/2015. "If the Reform Committee decides that the timetable is too short to conduct the elections, it could make proposals to the FIFA Executive Committee to change the electoral calendar," said Issa Hayatou (69 years old), now the acting president of FIFA, to RFI (Radio France International), on 08/10/2015.
