FIFA: Michel Platini's candidacy "will not be processed as long as his ban is valid"

"Domenico Scala, in his capacity as chairman of the FIFA Ad-hoc Electoral Committee, explained that candidacies for the FIFA presidency that are submitted in due time and form, but which relate to candidates who are subject to a (provisional or definite) ban from taking part in any football-related activity, will not be processed by the Ad-hoc Electoral Committee as long as such ban is valid and in force," announced FIFA, following the extraordinary meeting of its Executive Committee, at the headquarters of the international federation in Zurich (SUI), on 20/10/2015.

Michel Platini, UEFA President, was suspended for a period of 90 days from any activity in football at national and international level by the adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee, on 08/10/2015. This suspension, which Michel Platini has appealed to the FIFA Appeal Committee, runs until 06/01/2016. "The suspension may be extended for a period not exceeding 45 days," said FIFA on 08/10/2015.
