UEFA: 2015 Benchmarking Report (data for the 2014 financial year)

UEFA published its seventh benchmarking report on 21/10/2015, titled "The European Club Footballing Landscape". This document reviews the growth of revenues and the wage bills of clubs over the 1996-2014 period, as well as their profitability.

"While we should remain cautious, it appears that the worst financial excesses of European football reported in 2010 and 2011 are potentially behind us. This year's edition of the report highlights some notable improvements that have taken place in the last three years, coinciding with introduction of financial fair play," wrote Gianni Infantino, the UEFA General Secretary, in the introduction of benchmarking report.

• Revenues of clubs European first divisions totaled €15bn in 2013 and approaching the €16bn mark in 2014, whereas they had only previously exceeded €12bn in 2010.
• The clubs have reported profitable operating margins for the first time in five years in 2013, and the largest profit in their history, €805m in 2014.
• Net losses, after taking into account funding and transfer activities, were divided by a factor of three within…
