The US audit firm pwc publishes "Outlook for the sports market in North America through 2019"

The US office of the audit and consulting firm pwc published the third edition of its annual report on the prospects of the sports market in North America, on 19/10/2015.

The document, entitled "Outlook for the sports market in North America through 2019", details the projections made by pwc concerning ticketing income, audiovisual, sponsorship and merchandising revenues of the five major professional North American leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB , NHL and MLS).

The combined income of the five leagues, which reached $60.5bn in 2014 (€50.2bn as of 31/12/2014), is expected to grow by an average of 4% each year, reaching $73.5bn in 2019 (€64.8bn with today's exchange rate). By 2018, audiovisual revenues ($19.9bn / €17.5bn) are expected to exceed ticketing revenues ($19.7bn / €17.4bn) and become the primary source of revenue for North American professional sports.

Audiovisual revenues are expected to grow by an average annual rate of 7.5% over the 2015-2019 period, faster than the growth rates of sponsorship (4.5%), ticketing (2.6%) and merchandising revenues (1.4%). pwc believes that this…
