FIFA: the Frenchman Jérôme Champagne is officially a presidential candidate

The Frenchman Jérôme Champagne, 57 years old, and a former deputy secretary general of FIFA, will stand for the presidency of the international federation, he announced on 23/10/2015. The vote is scheduled on 26/02/2016 in Zurich (SUI), and the deadline for candidates to submit formal applications is Monday 26/10/2015 at (four months prior to the elections, in accordance with the FIFA Statutes).

"With determination and respect, I come before you again as candidate for the presidency of FIFA for the elections on 26/02/2016. The events of the past few months have renewed my determination to be a candidate," wrote Champagne in a letter dated 21/10/2015, but released to the public on 23/10/2015, and whose title is "For a Strong, Democratic, Respected and Proactive FIFA".

Trained as a diplomat, Jérôme Champagne could not be a candidate in the last elections on 29/05/2015, since he was able to secure the sponsorship of at least five of the 209 national federations of FIFA by the deadline of 29/01/2015.
