MLS-Miami: Tim Leiweke, former president of AEG, may join David Beckham's investor group

Tim Leiweke (58 years old) may join the investor group of David Beckham's future MLS franchise in Miami, according to local newspaper the Miami Herald, on 20/10/2015. Tim Leiweke is currently the managing director of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, a Canadian conglomerate which owns several franchises in Toronto (CAN): the Raptors (NBA), the Maple Leafs (NHL) and Toronto FC (MLS). He has held this position in an interim capacity since 30/06/2015, pending the appointment of a successor.

He was most notably the former president and CEO of AEG (Anschutz Entertainment Group), the group which owns the Los Angeles Galaxy (MLS) franchise, for whom David Beckham played for from 2007 to 2012. According to US media, Tim Leiweke has met many political leaders from the City of Miami in recent weeks with the aim of finalising an agreement for the construction of the future stadium of the franchise.
