FIFA: Jérôme Champagne, candidate for president, has 8 support letters from national federations

Jérôme Champagne, who announced he will stand for FIFA president on 23/10/2015 (elections scheduled for 26/02/2015) informed News Tank Football that he has letters of support from eight national federations. The FIFA Statutes specify that a presidential candidate must be formally supported by at least five of the 209 national federations that make up FIFA.

Jérôme Champagne also told News Tank Football that he submitted his candidacy application to FIFA on "Monday, 19/10/2015 at midnight". The vote is scheduled for 26/02/2016, at an extraordinary FIFA Congress in Zurich (SUI), and the deadline for the submission of candidacy documents is Monday 26/10/2015 (four months prior to the elections, in accordance with the FIFA Statutes).

Jérôme Champagne is the fourth person to be declare heh has submitted his candidacy application to FIFA, after Michel Platini (FRA, currently suspended from any activity in football until 06/01/2016), Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein (JOR, former FIFA vice-president) and David Nakhid (TRI, former Trinidadian international).
