Europa League: Sport 1 draws 1.13 million viewers in Germany for AZ Alkmaar - FC Augsburg (0-1)

The match between AZ Alkmaar - FC Augsburg (0-1, Group L), on Matchday 3 of the 2015-16 Europa League group stage, drew an average of 1.13 million viewers on the free-TV channel Sport1, on Thursday 22/10/2015 (kick-off at 19:00 CET). This is the smallest audience achieved by Sport1 for a Europa League match since the start of the 2015-16 competition.

This audience is almost two times lower than that of APOEL Nicosia - FC Schalke 04 (0-3, Group K), which attracted 2.11 million viewers on Matchday 1 (on 17/09/2015) and almost 2.5 times lower than the viewing figures for PAOK - Borussia Dortmund (1-1, Group C), which gathered 2.78 million viewers on Matchday 2 (on 01/10/2015), the best audience ever for the German sports channel since it rebranded under the name Sport1 (in April 2010). The kick-off for all the matches were during prime time at 21:05.

Augsburg's victory, their first European Cup win in the history of the Bavarian club, achieved an audience share of 4.1% across the German public, and 3.1% among the 14-49 year old demographic (260,000 viewers).
