FC Barcelona: decision on Qatar Airways contract during the general assembly is postponed

FC Barcelona (Liga BBVA) have decided to postpone of the decision for the choice of the club's future shirt sponsor, which was originally on the agenda of the general assembly of the Catalan club scheduled for Sunday 25/10/2015, Barcelona announced on 22/10/2015. Qatar Airways is still negotiating to extend the current agreement, which expires in June 2016. The Qatari airline paid a total of €96m, excluding bonuses, for the 2013-14 to 2015-16 period.

Qatar Airways is likely to renew its sponsorship of the Barça shirt for €60m per year until 2019-20, according to the Spanish daily El Mundo Deportivo, in June 2015. However, the club president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, and vice-president, Manel Arroyo, returned from Doha (Qatar) on Wednesday 21/10/2015 and have not managed to conclude a new agreement with the airline.
