Belgium: construction of the new Club Brugge stadium expected to be completed in 2019

Club Brugge KV (Jupiler Pro League) should be able to use their new 40,000 seat stadium in 2019, according to the Belgian daily Het Nieuwsblad on 22/10/2015.

The city of Bruges had authorised the project on the Blankenberge embankment in June 2015. The environmental impact report produced by the municipality that advocated the construction of the new stadium was more realistic than the expansion of the Jan Breydel Stadium (29,000 seats), which is currently shared by Club Brugge KV and Cercle Bruges KSV (Proximus League). The project will provide parking for 7,200 places. The report suggested an additional one thousand places in order to "encourage mobility" on the A11, the motorway under construction between Bruges and Knokke-Heist. Construction of the new stadium is set to begin in early 2018.
