"Even if I cannot go out campaigning, I fully consider myself a candidate. Today, I have the sense of being a Middle Age knight in front of a castle. I am trying to get in to bring football back, but instead I’m having boiling oil poured on my head," stated Michel Platini to News Tank Football on 29/10/2015.

The president of UEFA and a candidate for the presidency of FIFA, Michel Platini was suspended from any activity in football for 90 days by the FIFA Ethics Committee on 08/10/2015. This suspension stems from a payment of 2m Swiss francs (about €1.55m at the time of payment) in February 2011, presumably for work done by Platini for FIFA between January 1999 and June 2001. This payment is being investigated by the Swiss Attorney General.
