Belgium: agreement signed between the City of Brussels and Anderlecht over the new national stadium

"The four parties (City of Brussels, Brussels Expo, the constructor Ghelamco and RSC Anderlecht) met and came to an agreement with respect to the direction of the Eurostadium. This means that the work can continue," announced RSC Anderlecht (Jupiler Pro League), on 29/10/2015. The stadium will have a capacity of 60,250 seats.

Anderlecht will pay an annual fee of €9.95m to the stadium operators Ghelamco (who hold a long-term lease), according to the Belgian daily De Tijd. The construction group had initially wanted an annual rent payment of €11m. "We signed a very clear agreement. The rental price we have agreed is based on the plans signed by all parties, including representatives of RSC Anderlecht. We will now begin the proceedings by applying for a permit," said Paul Gheysens, CEO of Ghelamco Group. The City of Brussels committed to providing an annual sum of €4m for events on the site, in June 2015.
