China: "Le Sports" acquires the exclusive rights of AFC competitions for the 2017-2020 cycle

The Internet and mobile streaming platform Letv has acquired the exclusive distribution rights, in China, of competitions organised by the AFC for the 2017-2020 cycle, on 29/10/2015. These rights were acquired via the Lagardère Sports agency, the marketing and media advisor to the Asian Football Confederation. The value of the rights is estimated at $110m (€100m) over the period by Chinese media.

Under the terms of the agreement, Le Sports, the sports portal of Letv, will broadcast more than 1000 matches of 12 different competitions, including the AFC Champions League, 2019 Asian Cup and qualifying matches of the Asia region for the 2018 World Cup. Letv will also produce the broadcasting signals for the matches of these competitions held on Chinese soil.

Letv will distribute part of these acquired rights to other TV broadcasters and Chinese streaming platforms, according to local media on 29/10/2015.

• Letv has also acquired a 20% stake in the agency World Sport Group, property of Lagardère Sports & Entertainment and now renamed Lagardère Sports, for $75m (€68m).
