The quadruple Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi (ARG, Barcelona) has become an ambassador of the Indian automobile manufacturer Tata Motors "for several years", announced the company on 02/11/2015.

The Argentine will be the focus of the media campaign '#madeofgreat' that the Indian brand will develop in the coming months. The campaign is being led by the US agency Soho Square Advertising & Marketing Communications. Tata is the first partner of Lionel Messi in the Indian market. The player received €15.53m in commercial revenues in 2014, according to Forbes magazine.

"We chose football because all our research and surveys prove that football is the new 'cool' and the current generation connects better with football. Football has a huge following in India and Messi is in a different league, making him the apt choice with his unique ability to appeal globally, transcending geographies, to represent our brand, internationally," said Mayank Pareek, president of the passenger vehicle business unit of the Tata group.
