The 2015 Rugby World Cup, which saw the coronation of New Zealand (34-17 against Australia in the final), ended on 31/10/2015. "We will remember the 2015 Rugby World Cup as the biggest tournament to date, I believe we will also remember it as the best. The 2015 edition in England has offered the highest level of competition, of crowds, audiences, commitment on social networks and commercial success of all the World Cups," stated Bernard Lapasset, the president of World Rugby, on 02/11/2015.

The 2015 Rugby World Cup will yield about £543m (€768m as of 04/11/2015) to the organisers (the French Rugby Federation and the International Rugby Board), as estimated by News Tank Football. On the digital level, the Rugby World Cup generated 6.5 million mentions on social networks and other interactive platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, blogs, forums, online press), according to a study from the agencies Synthesio (digital consulting) and Sport Market (sports consulting).
