United Kingdom: BBC partners with Facebook to promote its live show Match of The Day

The British public broadcaster BBC has partnered with Facebook to promote its show "Match of The Day" on the social network, from 24/10/2015. The programme has broadcast highlights of all the Barclays Premier League matches of the day every Saturday and Sunday for over 51 years since its launch on 22/08/1964, (with the exception of the 2001-2004 cycle, which was aired on the channels of the private free-TV group ITV).

Every Saturday at the end of the final match at 18:30 CET, the official "Match of The Day" Facebook page will use the live streaming feature "Facebook Mentions" to promote that evening's show (beginning at 23:00 local time, midnight CET). The former England international Gary Lineker, host of "Match of The Day", appears in a video broadcast live to promote the programme, announcing the order in which the highlights will be presented as well as some clips of the programme.

The official "Match of The Day" Facebook account has 3.1 million fans as of 09/11/2015, nearly 1.7 million of which are British. This makes it one of the most followed Facebook accounts in the UK…
