France: Frederic Thiriez and LFP offer Ligue 2 two movements and a pro/rel play-off for 2015-16

"The FFF has proposed two promotions and two relegations and then a promotion/relegation play-off (for the third movement) from 2016-17. If we want a compromise, everyone must take a step. We offer to set up this system from the current season, 2015-16. This proposal was adopted by the board of the League," stated Frederic Thiriez, president of the LFP, on 12/11/2015.

"I find a (promotion/relegation) play-off a good solution. Between two and three movements (between leagues), this is the natural and obvious compromise: is two automatic movements and a play-off," Noël Le Graët, president of FFF, had earlier stated to News Tank Football on 07/10/2015. A wide majority of the committee set up to deal with the subject had supported the introduction, from the 2016-17 season, of a system with two promotions and two relegations and promotion/relegation play-off between Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, and also Ligue 2 and the National (French third division), on 06/10/2015.
