Euro 2016: "We've known for months that the event is high risk" (Jacques Lambert, EURO 2016 SAS)

"Today we have no specific information about whether Euro 2016 could be targeted. But we've known for months that the event is (a) high risk (target)," stated Jacques Lambert, president of EURO 2016 SAS, on 14/11/2015, following the terrorist attacks in Paris and close to the Stade de France in Saint-Denis (north of Paris) on 13/11/2015 which resulted in 129 dead and 352 wounded.

"My primary concern is to have a maximum level of security. The risk of terrorism, since the drafting of the application (to host the tournament), has always been considered a key risk," added Jacques Lambert to the Agence France Press, on 14/11/2015.

About a possible postponement or cancellation of Euro 2016, Jacques Lambert said in L'Equipe on 14/11/2015: "This question exceeds, by far, my operational responsibilities as the organiser. But it is clear that for UEFA and France, it is a type of decision that has many consequences. Everything is possible, anything can be imagined. But it (cancelling the tournament) would play into the hands of those who attack us."
