Rio 2016: men's football tournament scheduled from 04-20/08/2016, women's from 03-19/08/2016

The men's Olympic football tournament will be played from 04 to 20/08/2016, while the women's competition will run from 03 to 19/08/2016, announced FIFA regarding the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro on 10/11/2015.

The 58 combined matches of the women's (12 teams, 26 matches) and men's (16 teams, 32 matches) football tournaments at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio will be played in seven stadiums in six cities across Brazil (Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Manaus, Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte and Salvador). Of these seven stadiums (see list below), only the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Stadium did not host a match at the 2014 World Cup.

The finals of both tournaments will be played at the Maracanã stadium in Rio. The opening match of the women's tournament is scheduled to take place at the Olympic Stadium in Rio, whereas of the men's equivalent will be played in Brasilia.
