Liga BBVA: Rayo Vallecano acquire Oklahome City franchise (USA), to enter into the NASL in 2016

Rayo Vallecano de Madrid (Liga BBVA) have become the owner of the Oklahoma City FC, an expansion franchise in the NASL, which will integrate into the North American second division soccer league in 2016, the Spanish club announced on 10/11/2015. The franchise will play under the name of Rayo Oklahoma City (or "Rayo OKC").

"The Rayo Oklahoma City project is something that we have been working on for some time and we believe is necessary for Rayo Vallecano. For the first time, Rayo Vallecano has managed to stay in the Liga BBVA for five consecutive seasons. We are at a crucial moment, Rayo must grow and we will grow. Football continues to grow in the US and we think this is the perfect time to settle in this country that offers so many possibilities and where, humbly, we think we can pass on our values and our way of seeing football," said Raúl Martín Presa, president of Rayo Vallecano and new majority shareholder of Rayo Oklahoma City on 10/11/2015.
