FIFA: David Nakhid appeals to the CAS to have his presidential bid validated

"David Nakhid (Trinidad and Tobago, 51 years old) has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision of the FIFA Ad-hoc Election Committee who refused his candidacy for the next FIFA presidential election, on 28/10/2015," announced the CAS on 16/11/2015.

The FIFA Ad-hoc Electoral Committee had ruled admissible the records of seven candidates for the presidency of FIFA, on 28/10/2015: Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, Hassan Musa Bility, Jérôme Champagne, Gianni Infantino, Michel Platini, Salman bin Ebrahim Shaikh Al-Khalifa and Tokyo Sexwale. The candidacy of former Trinidad and Tobago international David Nakhid, was however, not considered admissible. According to information unconfirmed by FIFA, the dossier was rejected due to the lack of written support from at least five of the 209 national federations -- the support of Hillaren Frederick, president of the Federation of the US Virgin Islands, would have been rejected, with the latter having already supported another candidate, rendering both letters of support void.
