Italy: judge orders Internet service providers to block the Rojadirecta site

A court in Milan (ITA) has ordered the Italian Internet service providers Fastweb and Telecom Italia to block access to the illegal streaming site Rojadirecta, on 18/11/2015. The block applies to all websites that contain "RojaDirecta" in their domain name and accros all their extensions (.me, .com, .cat, etc.) and all related content.

Other Italian operators, such as Tiscali, will implement the decision of the Milan court across their trans-alpine media for fear of having to pay the same fines as Fastweb and Telecom Italia if future rulings are made. As of 18/11/2015, Fastweb and Telecom Italia will be fined €30,000 for each day that they do not block access to Rojadirecta.

Even if the ruling does not put an end to illegal streaming of sports content in Italy, it will hit Rojadirecta hard as the most visited illegal football streaming site in Italy, according to the Milan court.
