CONMEBOL: former president of the Chilean Federation Sergio Jadue to face charges in New York

The Chilean Sergio Jadue (38 years old), former president of the Chilean Football Federation, has acknowledged his guilt and face charges against him by the US court in connection with the case that led to the indictment of 14 people -- including seven FIFA officials arrested in Zurich (SUI), on 27/05/2015, under charges of racketeering, financial fraud, money laundering and other offences in business -- issued by the Federal Court of Brooklyn (New York, USA), on 20/11/2015.

Sergio Jadue, who resigned from his post as president of the Chilean Federation on 18/11/2015, has agreed to cooperate with the investigation in exchange for a reduced sentence, announced several Chilean media outlets, on 20/11/2015. The Chilean leader was not among those named in the indictment, however, it did indicate that each of the 10 presidents of the CONMEBOL federations had received €1.5m from the media and marketing rights agency Datisa at the signing of a contract between CONMEBOL and Datisa concerning the TV rights of the 2016, 2019 and 2023 editions of the Copa America.
