The German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen could end its sponsorship of several Bundesliga clubs, according to the German daily Bild, following the announcement by the group of a drop in investment of around €1bn, on 20/11/2015. The automotive group is accused of fraud regarding pollutant emissions on more than 11 million vehicles worldwide.

Volkswagen is likely to halt its contracts with four clubs: SV Werder Bremen, FC Schalke 04, Hannover 96 (Bundesliga) and TSV 1860 München (2.Bundesliga) -- related to the Mini brand. Each contract is estimated at €1.5m per year. The automaker had just renewed its support for SV Werder Bremen, and extended its partnership with the club until the end of the 2017-18 season, on 08/10/2015.

The German group should not, however, change its investment into VfL Wolfsburg (Bundesliga), of which Volkswagen owns 100% of the club. Wolfsburg have nonetheless announced a postponement of their proposed new training centre project, estimated to between €30m and €40m, on 13/10/2015.
