Premier League TV rights in France: Altice stock up to 7.5% on the exchange, Vivendi down 0.9%

Altice stock closed up 7.5% on the Amsterdam stock exchange (NYSE Euronext), at €14, on Thursday 26/11/2015. The Dutch holding of telecommunications groups and cable operators confirmed, the same day, it had acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights to the Barclays Premier League in France and Monaco for the 2016-2019 cycle.

Altice, which owns, in France, SFR-Numericable and MCS TV, should pay more than €300m over the period, or 58% more than the current broadcaster Canal+ during the 2013-2016 cycle (estimate: €190m). The sharp rise in the stock price of Altice contrasts to a continuous decline over the past three months, when the stock has lost half of its value since 11/08/2015 (€28.92), amid incomprehension from investors about the group's acquisitions strategy and financing thereof.

Meanwhile, Vivendi stock, the parent company of Canal+, closed slightly down, 0.9%, on the Paris stock exchange (NYSE Euronext) at €19.92 on 26/11/2015.
