FIFA: Marco Del Nero (BRA) resigns from the Executive Committee, replaced by Fernando Sarney

"Marco Polo Del Nero asked to leave the FIFA Executive Committee, where he represented CONMEBOL, and recommended Fernando Sarney (both Brazilian) to replace him, which was unanimously approved," announced the South American Confederation, following a meeting of its Executive Committee on 26/11/2015.

Marco Polo Del Nero (74 years old) announced the same day that he would retain his posts as president of the Brazilian Federation and member of the CONMEBOL Executive Committee. He has not attended a meeting of the FIFA Executive Committee, of which he has been a member since 2012, since the beginning of the case that led to the indictment of 14 people -- including seven leaders arrested in Zurich (SUI ) (see list below) -- for racketeering, fraud and corruption, by the federal court in Brooklyn (New York, USA) on 27/05/2015.
