FIFA: AFC supports Sheikh Salman, presidential candidate and calls on its members to vote for him

"Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa’s campaign to become the next president of FIFA was unanimously supported by the AFC Executive Committee meeting in New Delhi (India). The members of the AFC Executive Committee passed a resolution urging all federations of the AFC (numbering 46, see below) to unite behind and support the AFC President Shaikh Salman in his efforts to be elected as the first FIFA president from Asia," announced the Asian confederation following a meeting of its Executive Meeting on 27/11/2015.

Sheikh Salman (Bahrain), 49 years old, currently president of the AFC and a FIFA vice-president, filed his candidacy for the presidency of FIFA on 25/10/2015. He is one of five candidates who have been declared eligible by the FIFA Ad-hoc Electoral Commitee for the elections scheduled in Zurich (SUI) on 26/02/2016.
