Germany: ARD and Sky Deutschland extend their TV rights for the DFB-Pokal until 2019 (press report)

The German public broadcaster ARD and pay-TV group Sky Deutschland have retained their domestic broadcasting rights packages to the DFB-Pokal for the 2016-2019 cycle, according to the German daily Bild on 28/11/2015. This information has not been confirmed by the DFB, nor by ARD or Sky, to date.

The German Federation and its media adviser Infront Sports & Media AG had launched the tender for the 2016-2019 domestic TV rights to the German Cup on 01/09/2015. The results of this procedure should be made public by the 15/12/2015.

ARD and Sky together would pay €100m per year during the 2016-2019 cycle, three times more than in the 2012-2016 cycle (€34m), according to Bild. ARD broadcasts eight live matches each season and summaries of all games, while Sky broadcasts live the 63 matches in the competition each season.
