FIFA: arrests of the presidents of the CONCACAF and CONMEBOL confirmed (Swiss Justice)

The Honduran Alfredo Hawit, president of CONCACAF, and the Paraguayan Juan Angel Napout, president of CONMEBOL, were arrested and detained for extradition to the United States, confirmed the Swiss Federal Office of Justice on 03/12/2015. The two men are among the eight vice-presidents of FIFA, elected by the confederations.

The Federal Office of Justice announced the arrest of two "leaders" of FIFA in the morning of 03/12/2015, without confirming their identity, which was, however, revealed by many international media outlets.

"Both FIFA officials arrested in Zurich by order of the Federal Office of Justice (FOJ) will be heard today by the Zurich cantonal police on the facts alleged against them in the application for American arrest. They s preclude their extradition, "said the FOJ, the 03/12/2015
